Greetings, I just added a page to my website describing various courses and workshops I teach in weaving and bobbin lace. The Teaching page is part of my “About” section.

Beginning bobbin lace class starts soon, 4 Saturdays starting Feb 22, 2014, from 2:00pm to 3:30pm.  We meet in my studio, Northrup King building .

The Limestone throw is coming out so pretty with soft blues, greens, and purples, burgundy, can’t wait to see it off the loom and washed!

Below are sketches of custom orders that are coming up on the loom in the next few months.  Let me know if you are interested in getting in on any of these orders at the stock price.  Details for visiting the studio in person or calling me can be found on my Contact page, or send me an email.  I’d love to hear comments on my projects and patterns, too, in the box on the bottom of each post.  Thanks!  Kelly

Beyond-Banchy 28" wide, any length

Beyond – Banchy.  The width is 28″; you can specify the length you need.  I love this Beyond Arts & Crafts design and so do my customers.  We have it going on the loom in 3 different sizes.  See the next post (January, #2) for the other sizes and slight color variations in Beyond patterns.

Evolve - Burnham

Evolve – Burnham.  The sketch has been turned on it’s side, warp width is 42″ can be any length.  It really is as fabulous as it looks.  It is designed as a wall piece for this client but will work equally well as a rug or fabric.

Pinwheel-Depriest 5.5' x 8'

Pinwheel – Depriest.  Shown 5’5″ x 8′, you can order a rug that is 5’5″ by any length.  These colors are rich, and warm, and a little moody but oh so yummy.

Pinwheel-Depriest-variation 5.5' wide

Pinwheel – Depriest (variation).  The width is 5’5″.  This design is woven off the same loom set up as the rug above.

Conservatory-Depriest 48" wide, any length

Conservatory – Depriest.  The width is 48″, and you can specify the length you need.

Winter Garden-Vogen 67" wide, any length

Winter Garden – Vogen.  The rug is 67″ wide, and you can specify any length you need.  This is designed for an entry rug for this customer but makes a fabulous wall piece too.

New Work on the Looms, January 2014 (#2)

Posted on: January 22nd, 2014 3 Comments

I’m using my New Work blog to show you what is going on in the studio.  When I make a custom order I always put on enough warp to make extras.  You can order a textile, at stock price,  from the extras off of the current run that is on the loom.  I will post pictures and sketches of work in progress.  Please let us know if you are interested in any of our current work on the loom or coming up! Details for visiting the studio in person or calling me can be found on my Contact page, or send me an email.

This is a sketch for Beyond-Goedderz, which I will be weaving at 41.5″ wide or 33″ wide.  You can specify the length you would like.

On the loom now!

A client brought this chair in this weekend, looking for upholstery fabric.  They were impressed with the look of the fabric on the chair in the studio, how great is that!  And we just happen to have the very same Beyond design going on the loom.  We work with a local furniture reupholsterer who will make this chair new again, in the mechanics, cushion, wood, and of course with our fabrics.  Can’t wait to see it.
When Eric brought the chair in he mentioned how he used to play under the chair as a toddler and his father would lay back and read the paper in his favorite chair.  Preserving beautiful memories for years to come….

I can’t wait to see this beauty, the New Limestone blanket on the loom now.  It is usually woven at 46″ x 84″ as a throw; we are making it a queen size spread for the client.  You could specify a throw or spread,  or pillows too!  Since you are seeing it before it is woven you can specify a blanket length.

This shows the warp threads, hung together in a long, snake-like chain, ready to tie on to the loom and weave.  This is always a time of great anticipation, to see the stripes of color in the warp threads stretched on the loom, and then the first few inches of weaving that reveal the carefully-planned pattern.

I’ll show works on the looms, like this rug, Waterdance -Kerr, shown ready to cut off the loom. It is 36″ wide, in a variety of lengths.

Pinwheel-Ely 8 x 10'

Sometimes I’ll show a sketch of a piece that is just being warped onto the loom.  Weaving on Pinwheel Ely has just begun.  It is 8′ wide and can be any length you would like.

Here is the beginning of many yards of the Pinwheel Ely pattern.

Thank you for visiting my blog.  I’m happy to have a new venue to share our new patterns and projects with you.   Kelly
